Reforestation is a long game. Planting a tree today, you make a contribution for generations to come. Geotrees supports local and indigenous people as much as possible. Our aim is to monitor the trees we have planted as one way to protect them and to detect things such as illegal logging as early as possible.
Simply planting any sapling anywhere, however, is not valuable and might be even harmful. Only native species planted in their native areas can integrate into the already existing biosystem and bring maximum benefit. That's why Geotrees works with scientists on every step, to be sure we plant the right trees in the right places at the right time. Such an approach results in healthy and diverse ecosystems and the well-being of local communities.

What do we mean by tree planting?
Our verified partner identifies farmers and community groups that are able to grow seedlings and can care for the trees. Then relevant equipment and training is provided and trees planted. We will guarantee that once you have made a donation, your tree will be planted as soon as possible or, taken into account planting season and other aspects, not later than within nine months of your donation.
What do we mean by planting fruit trees?
This is a project in Malawi benefits the local communities in several ways - it will provide fruits to eat and local communities will be able to sell any surplus and thus get an additional income. Our verified partner provides training, teaching how to plant the seeds and care of the fruit trees, with a focus on schools and vulnerable families. We will guarantee that once you have made a donation, your tree will be planted as soon as possible or, taken into account planting season and other aspects, not later than within nine months of your donation.
What do we mean by forest conservation?
Our verified partner helps to spread knowledge about the dangers of deforestation and benefits of forest conservation by establishing Forest Conservation Committees in Malawi and adoption and enforcement of simple bylaws. The local communities are encouraged to plant new trees to reduce pressure on indigenous forests and to use fuel efficient cookstoves to reduce wood used for cooking.
