Why the trees
Trees are vital for the survival of our ecosystems.
They clean the air we breathe by capturing excess carbon dioxide (CO2) and releasing oxygen. As boreal forests capture CO2 twice more effectively than tropical trees, we aim to work as much as possible with partners that plant trees in the very north of our globe.
The trees provide a habitat for wildlife and thus, save the variety of life on earth. Trees are even the source of many crucial medicines, including cancer-fighting drugs.
However, the level of deforestation in the world is shocking. Nowadays, 15 billion trees are cut down every year. Today, we have less than one-third of primary boreal forests remaining. There’s no time to wait!
Reforestation is a long game. Planting a tree today, you make a contribution for generations to come. Geotrees supports local and indigenous people as much as possible.
